How to clean your Keurig

How to clean your Keurig

For the past few weeks I have noticed my cups of coffee getting smaller and smaller.  I kept thinking oh great my morning resuscitation device is on the fritz.  I thought I had the model that would tell you when its time to clean it but it never did.  I looked online and this is what I found.  I love this idea because I am trying to use more natural household cleaners.

Step 1. Open your windows (you will thank me later)

         2. Empty ALL water out of your Keurig

         3. Fill reserve tank with white distilled vinegar

         4. Run all the vinegar through your Keurig (Pickles anyone)

         5. Fill reserve tank with water and run through run all the water through one more time

          6. Fill reserve tank and you may now enjoy your full cup of hot coffee again.

           7. You may now close your windows.

Green Cleaners

For years I have thought about the effect that the everyday cleaners we use to say clean the bathrooms or to wash the counters in your kitchen.  Just recently I learned about vinegar being a good healthy green cleaner.  But who like the smell of vinegar?  I for one am not in the category of people who do.  So I was brainstorming and thought about the oils that are in citrus peels and how amazing they smell.

We go through a ton of citrus fruit around here.  I use lemon or lime in my water daily.  My husband loves oranges and grapefruits.  I started saving the peels from all this citrus fruit in a old spaghetti sauce jar.  When the jar was full of assorted peels I poured distilled vinegar over the peels.  Let it set for a few weeks to give the citrus time to break down in the vinegar.  After that I strained the peels and any pulp from the cleaner.  I then poured into a squirt bottle and added some water to the mixture to dilute just a bit more.  I can still smell the vinegar but it is not overwhelming and it has a nice citrus hint to it.  I think the next batch will have some lavender or rosemary.

Goodbye 2013...Hello 2014

Every year around this time I look back and reflect  on myself and my life directly around me.  Did I accomplish anything that I wanted to, did I change anyone's life in one way or another?

Well this past year everyone is a year older, I have 3 kids in school and 1 at home with me.  My husband moved his business to a new location and I took up selling(using)Skinny Body Care.  It has changed my life in a few different ways.  It has helped me achieve some non scale victories and some scale victories.  I have lost 26 inches and 17 pounds since September.  I wore an old pair of jeans that I had not been able to wear since before I got pregnant with my 4th child.  I participated in a family photo(I LOATHE having my picture taken). One step at a time right?

SO this year I commit to losing weight and become healthy with my family!  To be healthy and active is my biggest goal this year!  Are you with me?  Please comments below and join me this year to be the last year I say, "My New Years Resolution is........?

In a 2 cup-capacity small bowl, combine and set aside:
2 cups cornmeal
1 cup almond milk

In a 4 cup-capacity medium-sized bowl, sift together:
3 cups almond flour
5 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp cayenne pepper (or smoked Paprika)
1 tsp garlic powder

2014 is quickly approaching, can you believe it?!

What is your resolution?  For years it always comes down to losing weight.  This year its about being healthy, living healthy and exuding healthy!

Of course I want to lose weight, but what else do I want?

Here is my checklist: (I hope that because I am putting this down it will happen and I will come back to cross these things off my list!!)

  1. I will lose weight to be healthy, play with my children and go out in my husbands arms and not worry about what people will think of him and the woman on his arm
  2. I will organize my whole house.  Everything will have its place.
  3. I will succeed with this blog.
  4. When Christmas rolls around next year I will have money saved and not do the last minute shopping that I always do!
Lets sound off here and be accountable for what we want to accomplish this year...Comments are welcome.  If you want me to blog about something send me a message.  I am all over the place so please follow me.  I want to be the angel on your shoulder when you think of something new.
